Welcome to the official website of the band Álaghom!
The Mexican band Álaghom takes its name from Álaghom Naom, the Mayan goddess of Nature, consciousness, conscious thought, and the mind.
The name reflects the influence on the band’s thematic approach, with each album diving deep into ancient mythological symbolism and cosmology, as well as incorporating Zen Buddhism and other ancient philosophies, blending these elements with the complexities of progressive metal music.
Álaghom is a genre-defying band rooted in progressive metal, blending influences from world music, baroque, oriental sounds, rock and more.

“The Twin Verses” (2026)
The Twin Verses is a continuous one-hour composition inspired by the first chapter of the Buddhist book Dhammapada, one of the most recognized works of Buddhist philosophy for its spiritual and ethical teachings applicable to all people.
Designed as an experience of deep listening, the work invites the listener into a contemplative sonic journey where music and introspection intertwine. Through a carefully developed sonic narrative, the piece explores the relationship between mind, intention, and action, guiding the listener toward a state of relaxation, clarity, and meditation.

“Return to the Beginner’s Mind” (2025, Wormholedeath Records)
In 2023, the band was commissioned to create the soundtrack for a documentary about the traditional Japanese martial arts school, Yasuragi Dojo NY. This project inspired them to produce a six-track EP titled Return to the Beginner’s Mind.
The concept for this EP blends progressive music with orchestral arrangements and Japanese musical influences, showcasing a softer side of Álaghom’s signature sound to complement the story of a traditional Japanese Dojo, since each track is rooted in Buddhist Zen principles and the warrior mindset.
